A Strain-Gauge-Based Method for the Compensation of Out-of-Plane Motions in 2D Digital Image Correlation

چکیده

When performing a digital image correlation (DIC) measurement, multi-camera stereo-DIC is generally preferred over single-camera 2D-DIC. Unlike 2D-DIC, able to minimise the in-plane strain error that results from out-of-plane motion. This makes 2D-DIC less viable alternative for measurements than stereo-DIC, despite being financially and computationally expensive. work, therefore, proposes strain-gauge-based method compensation of errors motion in on planar specimens. The was first developed using equations theoretical motions then applied experimentally tensile tests two different dog-bone specimen geometries. resulted clear reduction thus improves accuracy making it more option full-field providing possible cases where not practical or unavailable.
